I'm taking a short break.
Please note, I'm taking a short break and will be unavailable until further notice. Thanks for dropping by - I'll be back soon!
I specialise in business marketing and communications, both internal (e.g. annual reports) and external (e.g. event brochures), but I am open to all enquiries. When you entrust your work to me, I guarantee accuracy, quality, and attention to detail in return. Make that flawless first impression for your customers, clients, and stakeholders by having your work proofread by The Helpful Puffin.
I check grammar, spelling, punctuation, spacing, and paragraphing. I also conduct overall 'sense-checking' to make sure there's consistency throughout the text, and nothing that would cause confusion. I'm really passionate about doing what I'm good at so that you can focus on doing what you're good at. Whatever you're writing for, I would love to work with you. Get in touch and let The Helpful Puffin help you!
Your professional image is so important. It tells your audience who you are and what you can do for them. It's a way of building trust with them so that they "buy into" your brand (whatever that looks like for you). To do that, you need to make sure that what you're offering them is accurate. Any errors or inconsistencies can be costly. My job is all about ensuring accuracy, detail, and quality in your writing so that you can be confident in your professional image and make that flawless first impression.
I'm Emma, aka The Helpful Puffin. I'm passionate about supporting three groups of people: those who are dyslexic, those who would describe themselves as visually impaired, and those whose first language isn't English. Together, we will overcome any struggles you have so you can be confident in your writing.
Proofreading is the final check before you get your work printed, published, submitted – wherever it needs to go. By asking me to proofread, you’re telling me that you’re happy with the content and you’re not looking to have anything major edited.
Copy editing, by contrast, is more in depth, and in fact it may not even be necessary depending on what it is you’re writing. (A promo flyer or a menu for your cafe most likely just needs proofreading.) By asking me to copy edit, you’re telling me that you’re not quite sure about some aspects of your work and you want some suggestions for improvement.
